CCRC opened my eyes to the world of ECE, something I had never thought deeply about before, despite how present it is in everyday life and how profoundly it affects everyone. I never would’ve imagined that child care could be such a complex field. After all, who would argue that child care is not a necessity? Still, providers and families face major challenges, and the reality is that our government still has a long way to go in investing in our child care system. Child care providers do more than supervise children – they make it possible for parents to work, families to remain financially stable, and society to function as a whole. Truly, we should all be grateful for providers who do so much to keep the world running.
My time with CCRC has been extremely valuable. I learned so much about how the agency supports children and families, not only by connecting parents to child care but also through its policy and advocacy work. We have an incredible team of advocates who fight for children and families in ways that are not always visible. Because of them, I have gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be an advocate myself, and I will continue advocating for children and families beyond my time with CCRC, no matter what path I end up pursuing.
